Backstory [Marvel Universe Original Character] - @PetulantBlossom
When Stephanie was only 6 years old, her family was shook by the death of her father, Hugh Jackson. Hugh was a respected scientist working for S.H.I.E.L.D. and had been for many years, but the job he had also came with particular risks. A suspicious explosion at the lab had sealed his fate and a statement was released to say it was an 'accident'. Stephanie consequently grew up without really knowing her father or anything about the work he had been doing. Being in a family linked to S.H.I.E.L.D. meant Steph was no stranger to having family friends that appeared in the news as 'heroes' - it was an odd world in which she lived. One particular family they were close to were the Barton's, and being the same age as Lila, Clint Barton's daughter, the two soon became the best of friends at the start of their teenage years. Upon graduating high school Steph was offered an internship to work in the media and PR department of S.H.I.E.L.D., presumably a gesture that only came about due to her father's passing. She spent the next two years working up the ranks from coffee maker to a real member of the team, being offered a permanent job at the company. But it didn't take her long after that to realise that the stories they were putting out were rarely pristine. The incriminating details of events like the battle of New York were twisted so that The Avengers would only look like heroes, so that S.H.I.E.L.D. protected itself from taking serious blame. Stephanie didn't want to do that. She wanted to be the one to tell people's stories for what they really were - even if that meant including the gritty details. So with a plan in mind, Stephanie went ahead and quit her job at the company. choosing instead to start up her own blog of sorts as an outlet to tell the stories she really wanted to tell. |
