Name: Valerie Nichols/King
Age: 22 Nationality: American Sexuality: Bisexual Hometown: Morganville Current Residence: Redwick Hollow Occupation: Animal Shelter Manager/Hunter of the Supernatural Parents: Alison King & Adrian Nichols Siblings: Aaron Nichols Spouse: N/A Children: N/A Eye Color: Dark Brown Hair Color: Blonde Faceclaim: Nicola Peltz Valerie was quite literally born into the mess of the supernatural world, her mother a vampire hunter and her father a werewolf. Luckily for Valerie though, she did not inherit her father's active wolf gene like her older brother did, remaining very much a mundane with the wolf gene dormant. Her mother's side of the family comes from a long line of hunters hailing from the old supernatural infested city of Morganville, each generation adapting to their roles with their own stories of distress and hatred against the demonic bloodsucking species. A hatred of vampires was ingrained in Valerie from the moment she was born, but it was a hatred for werewolves that she would develop on her own merit, with special thanks to her father.
In her teenage years, her family was far from whole. An estranged father and a military enlisted brother left the girl and her mother living alone, leading a rather mundane lifestyle in the suburbs. All was well, until the day it all came crashing down, changing her life as she knew it. Valerie came home from school one day to find her mother laying in a pool of her own blood, gashes and bites from what the teenager could definitely recognise as a werewolf attack. She didn't know why it happened - but she didn't have to know. She'd heard enough of the stories to know sometimes an attack didn't need much of a provocation, and her mother had made her fair share of inhuman enemies in her lifetime, including the one she was married to. After that horrific day, Valerie spent the remainder of her high school years living with her Uncle Parker, her mother's older brother and renowned hunter in his own name. It wasn't hard for her to uncover his involvement with an elite group of hunters known as The Cleanse, a group that she would then become a member of once she graduated high school. With so much resentment and hatred, there was no other occupation she would rather be doing. Though her uncle was hesitant in letting her join them in the family's occupation, he knew that he had no real way of stopping her. So instead, he helped her to train in all the necessary skills. When The Cleanse moved to Redwick, so did the Kings, purchasing a small house in the suburbs and blending in with the residents like any normal family would. To further her facade as a regular ol' human being, Valerie took up employment at the local animal shelter, soon rising to the position of a manager. It was a perfect veil, especially since it seemed a lot less questionable for someone constantly around animals to know a hell of a lot about them and their more mythological counterparts. PERSONALITY
- strong-willed - free-spirited - skeptical - opinionated - damaged - focused SKILLS Combat - she took self defence classes in high school, then entered into serious fight training with her uncle after her mother's death Weaponry - her brother taught her how to shoot a gun when she was younger, but the majority of her skills with weaponry come from her uncle and training in the cleanse with other hunters. Her weapon of choice would be a knife or dagger for close-range combat, though she isn't one to shy away from firearms Animals - thanks to working in the shelter and her persistence to wanting to know everything, she knows a great deal about a lot of creatures, both natural and supernatural. |
HEADCANONS
➤ with her mother's maiden name being synonymous with hunters, paired with her disdain for her father, Valerie chose to change her surname from Nichols to King once she was old enough to do so ➤ she's been consuming vervain all her life, before she even knew what it was used for ➤ having inherited the inactive werewolf gene from her father, it's likely that valerie will swear against having any children of her own out of fear of them turning out werewolf inclined. ➤ her weapon of choice is a vervain-infused silver dagger, one that used to belong to her grandfather and was passed down. ➤ RELATIONSHIPS
➤ Parker King: Valerie's uncle and guardian in more recent years, also the person who introduced her to 'The Cleanse' and taught her a great deal about fighting and combat. ➤ Aaron Nichols: Valerie's older brother, five years older than her. She was fifteen the last time she saw him, and she has no idea where he is in the world now, and frankly doesn't care about him one bit. In her eyes, he abandoned them just like their father did, also partly blaming him for their mother's death. ➤ Adrian Nichols: The father Valerie wished she never knew. He left her mother when she was thirteen, and his presence in her life dwindled with every passing year after that. From what she can remember of him and what her mother told her, he was a dysfunctional werewolf with anger issues and a serious drinking problem. ➤ Alison King: The one person in Valerie's life who she loved unconditionally, looking up to her. It goes without saying that her death affected Valerie severely. (Alison was also a character of mine, who's bio can be found here) ➤ Yasmin Grainger: A volunteer at the animal shelter, the pair formed an unlikely friendship.Though when the younger girl started asking questions with a supernatural theme, Val took it upon herself to teach her as much as she could without really disclosing the fact that all the stories were actually real. ➤ Morgan: Fellow hunter, there's an unspoken chemistry between the two, sparking since the day they met. // Stay tuned VALERIE'S OPINIONS ON SPECIES
➤ Vampires The species she was taught to hate; passed down from her family beliefs, Valerie views vampires as unholy parasites that have cheated death, not deserving any place on this earth. ➤ Werewolves Her hate for the lycanthrope stemmed greatly from her mother's murder, but it was also aided by her father's abusive nature that she credits to the species, and witnessing her brother go through so much pain and resentment for becoming one of them. ➤ Witches Valerie has no qualms with the magical beings, as they are not inherently dangerous to humans. However, she will not hesitate to put one down if need be. ➤ Demons/Angels Before coming to Redwick, Valerie had seldom experienced anything to do with these beings, knowing next to nothing about them. For the time being, she has no real opinions on them other than the facts she has learnt in training. ➤ Human Her own species, yet it angers her sometimes that the majority are so greatly ignorant and unaware of the danger inhuman beings pose to them. |
